Is This a Dog Farm?

The definition of a dog farm is a place where dogs are bred and their health is not taken care of. Pine Lodge Labradoodles is NOT a dog farm, or a puppy mill as we say in the United States. We take very good care of our Labradoodle breeding dogs and puppies. Our Labradoodles are our pets and we do not keep our breeding dogs or puppies in cages. They have regular health check ups. They live in our home or in our guardian homes as beloved pets. Our Labradoodle puppies are not ‘pet store puppies’. They have been raised and socialized in a home since birth.

Dogs reproductive cycles are not like humans. The female dogs bodies act as though they are pregnant even, when they are not. So you cannot do an accurate pregnancy test on a breeding dog. This also means, breeding a dog every 6 months, is not hard on their bodies, like a human. At Pine Lodge Labradoodles we usually breed twice, rest once. We retire all our breeding dogs by age 4, then they are fixed and either remain with us as our pet, or we look for a pet home for them.
